The DX7 and FM synthesis - in their days - opened up a new horizon. Together with subtractive synthesis and sampling technology, FM was the most important development in synthesizer history. Neither VCO nor VCA that came with analogue machines provided comparable results. In 1983 when everyone seemed to own a Yamaha DX7, Frequency Modulation, as a concept, was the next step, redefined what a synthesizer could sound like, redefined the whole synthesizer market. Turning back the time, Wall of Sounds Vol. 7 "World of FM" features excellent and exceptional FM sounds, far away from any factory preset, yet far away from unusable. Many FM banks on this CD-ROM are "TX 816-like", with powerful FM sounds by layering 2, up to 8 FM tone generators. Most of them are true stereo samples. Furthermore, each bank was programmed with preset variations like VCF, Attack, Release, +8va-Tuning, Glide and Portamento, giving you a complete set of versatile FM sounds. It's getting really interesting when one starts up combining FM sounds with pan and detune using layers. Nearly all sounds on this CD-ROM are 2 to 8 times layers, realized using the Yamaha TX 816 and Yamaha TX 802?? - experience these sound quality! Our sound designer J??rg Trapp went even further: in the banks 58-66 - FM-Hybrid-Synths FM-Sounds were mixed to analogue and other sounds. (AUDIO/WAV- & AIFF-FORMAT CD) ================================================ With all things millennial (domes, bugs, wobbly bridges and so on) looking about as cool as men with pony tails wearing shell suits and speaking into mobile phones the size of housebricks, you might be forgiven for thinking that Millennium Garage has missed the bandwagon of the century by at least eight months. Fortunately, the quality of the material on this dual-format CD from Crypton Future Media means that, although all sample CDs have a limited shelf life, this one at least provides spadeloads of instant gratification and a mainlining source plugged straight into the heart of current garage trends. Producer Tomoki Hirata provides a disc with all of the material stored as WAV- and AIFF-format samples. In terms of style Millennium Garage is perfectly pitched at those looking for an accessible and credible slice of 21st century programming which doesn't dwell solely on forms of the past. There are 30 construction kits to work with, ranging in tempo from 127 to 136bpm. In each case you get large numbers of constituent rhythm and instrumental tracks to play with. The kits feature the obvious drum and bass tracks (all largely terrific and hugely suited to the genre) but it's in the keyboard, effects and vocal samples that Tomoki's talents really come to the fore. With the 'boom' and 'tick' expertly taken care of, and filling the speakers nicely down at the bottom end, there is plenty of space 'up top' for some bitingly musical pads, pianos and string noises, as well as some authentic vocal samples that (unusually for a dance sample CD) don't make you want to curl up and die with embarrassment. The last section of the disc (tracks 31 to 47) contains a sizeable collection of the individual single-hit and multisampled sounds -- this is particularly useful for the bass, piano and string sections. Many sample CDs would give you just a couple of notes but, with this CD, you get on average eight notes over three or more octaves with which to build your own patches. The layout of the construction kits is sensible enough, with tempos getting faster as the disc progresses. The arrangement of the actual sample material also scores very highly, losing only a couple of kudos points for not listing relevant key signatures. Construction-kit sample CDs seem to be the way that the sample-buying public likes to have their sounds presented to them these days and I must confess that, for instant sample access, it's hard to imagine a quicker format to work with. The down side, of course, is that it tends to encourage less user experimentation and, with only 30 kits to work from, you could argue that Millennium Garage offers only a handful of actual track ideas compared to some other releases. However, what you get is such an inspired and a near perfect slice of highly usable garage material that this disc offers enough flexibility and programming quality to render many other sample CDs positively old hat. ======================================================================================== The CD-ROM includes: ??? 30 different Construction Kits ( set of loop + sample ) ??? RADS Volume 3 Multi-Track HiHats And Rides contains four independent instrument tracks (sound files): two overhead tracks and a stereo pair of room tracks. Four different ride cymbals and two different hihats were used during the recording session to offer a large selection of sounds. The ride cymbals remain constant at two measures a loop, while the hihat performances vary in length. Each hihat loop starts at a soft dynamic and continues for several measures to its loudest. This works exceptionally well for choosing a desired performance dynamics without having to audition dozens of different loops.

Percussion Grooves from Zero-G features the finest percussion grooves and samples, performed by top percussionist Maurizio Ravalico. These sampled percussion grooves will add a live and exotic feel to your rhythms. A wide range of instruments are used, including Congas, Cowbells, Guiro, Shakers, Triangle, Tambourine, Agogos, Bongos, Caxixi, Djembe, Frame Drum, Shekere, Maracas, Bamboos, Bells, Gong, Finger Cymbal etc. Tempo for each sampled rhythm is provided. This fine collection of grooves takes a no-frills approach to percussion. It is segmented by repeated shaker, caixixi, conga and tambourine looped grooves, beginning at a sedate 68BPM and gradually moving through the gears to a wrist-breaking 132BPM. They come in two flavours - straight 16s and shuffle grooves - and account for about 90 of the loop total. They're all workhorse patterns, nothing frilly or fancy, and played not programmed. Between the BPM levels lies the real colour salsa grooves, funky congas, double-headed iya drums, and the occasional spicy full-on batucada or surdo/pandeiro. What the hell are those, you say? Think carnival time! The collection ends with one-shot bells and shaker rolls, plus useful gongs. Where appropriate, ACIDized versions are also provided of the loops. At only ??9.95 this is a terrific value-for-money collection.

From The Producer:?? Over three years ago, I produced a sampling cd called On The Jazz Tip. It was the first sampling cd to be presented as a virtual band. I had the players play in certain tempos and certain keys, with similar musical references, so it would be easy to paste loops from different instruments together. I did this because so many customers wanted "construction kits", but I thought they limit the user's imagination by hearing a completed version. Jazz Tip was a success, but customers still wanted the ease of construction kits, so we decided to make a cd that had both construction kits and an alternative takes section that would provide the user with lots of creative options that are compatibile with each other. We feel this is an excellent option and we are very happy to present these musicans and this material to you. Jab'O and The Super Bad Virtual Band: If you want to make something good, go to the source. And when it comes to funk, the source is James Brown. The man playing the drums on some of the funkiest JB jams is John Jab'O Starks. Sex Machine, Talking Loud and Saying Nothing, Good Foot and Super Bad are just a few examples of the pocket Jab'o provided for His Funkiness. The other musicans selected are all outstanding players and proven funkateers. The construction kits were all recorded around Jabots groove and the alternative takes also used Jabo's beats as a reference. The alternative takes section is all basically in the key of C.

Hark! What could this be? A long awaited (probably not...) port of the beloved (probably well known) Spectrasonics' own Vocal Planet, compatible with your new fangled Kontakt sample player? Why it is! Basically I decided to take the (most) liberty in converting by hand, a majority* of the samples and patches by hand for it to be usable in Kontakt 7 (as early as Kontakt 5.6). Includes .nicnt file for easier installation, load up your library tools and go wild! Do enjoy this lil' mini project of mine, and let me know if there are any discrepancies with patches and the like. CREDIT GOES TO THIS LOVELY SOURCE ! *Majority being the more important, or already done layer-patches (the combos for instance), and as for Vol. 2, which will be also be covered in the contained disclaimer, the reference model I used to properly de-AKAI-nise the directory structure deemed confusing given that the patches didn't reflect the said reference model. This in turn had me decide to make a traditional CDXTRACT conversion of that volume. Please let me know if there is a proper Vol. 2 disk that correlates with Spectrasonics' official AKAI programme listing. Apologies in advance. UPDATE! I've also included a slightly cut down version for those who use Omnisphere 1 & 2 and couldn't find certain patches/sources within Omnisphere's core library but can use Kontakt in conjunction. UPDATE 2! (1/17/24): From learning more practical techniques in converting various old sample CD programs to Kontakt, I've wanted to make an updated version of this, instead of making these patches simple condensed monoliths, make them the patch as well as the actual, assigned, uncompressed WAV samples incase you want to use them in your favorite samplers. Another change will be the naming, keeping all raw files, patches included to be their AKAI names that way you can easily refer to specific patches in accordance to musical sample identification resources. I didn't realize some variations of stacks included different samples, so I'll be sure to throw them in except for the RAM-friendly patches that were optimized for the original sampler hardware to avoid redundancy. Though my drastic change of the conversion will only apply to the main, full library as opposed to the Omnisphere companion, I apologize in advance. Stay tuned!

This is the first ever omnibus collection of Simon Harris' "Beats, Breaks & Scratches" [ sic , no Oxford comma?!?] CDs. As these CDs (and the vinyl versions before them) represent a cultural touchstone for video game composers, DJs, and music producers alike ??? and as Music of Life no longer sells them! ??? I have undertaken the making of this compilation. I spent quite a bit of money to get clean copies of the CDs to rip. My initial purchases of volumes 4, 9, and 11 (reprints, not the first-edition CDs) had substantial errors, and I had to shell out extra money to get the original 90s versions. The work is thankless and I am drowning in debt, but I hope I have rendered a net good to musicians and archivists. Most rips come from my personal collection, with the exception of the rips of volumes 6, 7, and 10; these were provided by @nuclear_1 from the VGM & Other Instrument Sources Discord server. I apologize if the metadata or track names are weird. I tried to keep my rips consistent with the best information available to me, but this isn't my full-time job. If you want me to do better work, you'll have to financially incentivize me. Sorry, them's the break(beat)s.

No introduction is needed for such a marvelous sample library such as this; never lost in the hearts of Silent Hill fans. I had meant to upload this muuuuch earlier than now but had been sidetracked by a bunch of life stuff. Anyways, please enjoy! NICNT file included as well as a custom made wallpaper for the library~! UPDATE! : I've finally made a slimmed-down version of this KONTAKT library specifically as a companion for Omnisphere, only containing the patches and samples that didn't make the Omni-cut, so to speak.

The following is ProRec's State of the Art Vol. 1 CD-ROM For E-III & Compatibles. This is an extremely rare sample CD and it was most famously used (allegedly) in Super Metroid for it's choir sound (specfically the "GALEERE" patch found in the "Fairlight 1+2" bank). This .7z archive includes the original ISO, and the sample packs converted to both soundfont (.sf2) and Emulator X bank (.exb) formats. This conversion process was done using the Extreme Sample Converter program. If you want to open the ISO to view the patches and/or convert this sample CD to another format, you must open the ISO using a program like CDXtract or Extreme Sample Converter. If you try to mount this ISO, you'll get a "this disc is corrupt" error. I do not claim any rights to this sample CD or any material present on it. I simply uploaded this for archival purposes and for those who want to explore this sample pack.

After a rather tedious and slightly annoying conversion process, it's finally finished: the AKAI CD-ROM Sound Library converted to the Kontakt file format, ready to be played! (Credit to source here ) This not just some ordinary conversion of an AKAI library, more so a more cohesive yet accurate conversion of it-- meaning not only did I use Kontakt to convert all the patches so their effects and settings are retained (may behave weirdly at first, as many have a default LP filter), but also preserved the order in which the original CDs would be organized in [partitions], that way it's easier to track down, say an identified VGM sample contained in this library. As well as the directories being kept mostly the same, names are added incase you are in need in fast and easier access to certain instruments and sounds of your choosing. Feel free to let me know if there are any issues! Please enjoy this library, and get creating!! ^w^

The Roland S-50 is a 61-key 12-bit sampler keyboard produced by the Roland Corporation in 1986. It featured a 3.5-inch DSDD floppy disk drive and had external CRT monitor support to facilitate editing of samples. It could hold up to 32 samples. A rack-mounted version, called the S-550, was also available, which featured expanded memory. With these keyboards was included several floppy disks, which include all the preset sounds for the synths. These were the RSB-50x and RSB-550x. This distribution includes these converted to WAV and SF2 for anyone to use.

The Total Composure orchestra (TCO) is a full orchestral sample library created using only samples that are in the public domain. Total Composure is the first to offer such a library exclusively for the Kontakt format; making use of Kontakt's scripting capabilities to greatly enhance the playability, realism, and functionality of these public domain samples. The scripting aims to provide similar functionality across the different instrument groups, whatever the instrument; while more specific settings play to the strength of each instrument. Most of the instruments only contain one set of samples per articulation, and some only have one recorded dynamic layer ??? this is one of the many limitations we have found with using public domain samples. We have overcome these issues using a variety of physical modelling techniques that enhance the audio material. Using dynamic filters and intelligent repetition scripting we have removed the limitation of single dynamic recordings and solitary sample sets. Although we have put a lot of work into this product it is important to remember that at its core are the samples provided free of charge by a small number of people. Total Composure has gathered these samples from various locations and brought them all to one place where they can be used together. There are over 1500 samples in this library totalling more than 1.5 GB but we have used Kontakt's lossless compression to crunch the size to less than 500MB. Dear musicians, Since the beginning of music history there have been some instruments which became a legend because of their specific, and most fascinating sounds. Once again they're become popular, but many are no longer available. One of those most interesting and famous legends is the Hammond B-3, the various sounds of which have been recorded on this sampling CD. We have been dealing with all possibilities of sounds and usings, as the Hammond organ is of great importance in today's music. One main part of this CD includes the most important registrations of my three Hammond organs, recorded halfstep by halfstep, in highest sample quality. As you know, each one of the old Hammonds sounds different and you'll get the most natural sounding result by sampling every halfstep tone. Being totally fascinated we really checked all kinds of sounds and recorded nearly every acoustic event. This CD also offers you more than 350 typical and unusual licks and riffs on the Hammond. I haven't kept anything under cover, to provide you access to all my typical riffs as well as those never played before. I'm sure that everyone will be able to find something useful whether for the Jazz, Pop, Funk, Reggae, Rock or Techno style. The enclosed midi-file disc contains some of my compositions in MIDI standard file format, recorded with my midified B-3, incl. drums and organ-solis. You may assign your own sounds to the MIDI-tracks or mute an instrument to play it yourself for jam sessions and/or practising. This disc comprises multisamples (usually six or eight samples per sound) of flute, clarinet, bassoon, woodwind section, cornet, flugel and piccolo trumpet; plus French horn, trombone, and trumpet, each solo and as a section. Also included are multisamples of trills and runs. Both long and short notes are included where appropriate, so there's no need to loop the sounds unless you need longer notes. However, the sustain part of the long notes is pretty even, so looping wont be a problem.

1998 Sonic Foundry ACID sample pack Free Loops 4 ACID. Contains 100 seemingly unique loop samples I so far haven't heard in any other Sonic Foundry pack. Disc had 3 very small uncorrectable read errors when ripping to BIN / CUE but for what I could hear it has not affected the material on the disc in any noticeable way. This one is a bit of a mystery to me at the moment, I haven't managed to find any mention of it on Sonic Foundry's old archived website or anywhere else online, and it appears to have been some kind of freebie giveaway, possibly given away in stores, as a bonus purchase item, or maybe some kind of email / mail in request.
